Rev. Michael Sigler, Senior Pastor

Biography:

Rev. Sigler has served United Methodist churches in Montgomery, Daphne, Opelika, and Phenix City, Alabama. “They’ve all been wonderful,” he says. But he has ministered on the Gulf Coast for a total of 14 years and admits, “Early in our ministry, we got ‘sand in our shoes,’ as they say here on the Gulf Coast. We came to love this area and its people, and we are glad to be in Fort Walton Beach.” Mike is a graduate of Auburn University, Wheaton Graduate School, and Asbury Theological Seminary. He has served on a number of boards and agencies of the Alabama-West Florida Conference. Mike currently serves on the conference Board of Ministry and writes a weekly commentary for the conference website (www.awfumc.org). Mike’s wife Vicki is a teacher. They have three children: Matthew, Elisabeth, and David. Hobbies: following college football, reading, music, and enjoying the outdoors Unusual fact: In his “first career,” Mike was an award-winning writer and editor in Chicago and Kentucky. Fun fact: “I once performed as one of the Blues Brothers, live on-stage, with the guy who was our associate pastor at the time. The band played great, but my dancing was pathetic.” Favorite Bible verse: “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever” (Isaiah 40:8).

Rev. David McAlister Associate Pastor

Biography:

I am married to Priscilla and together we have two adult children. Our son Michael, the oldest, is married. Jessica, our daughter, is a student in pre-pharmacy. We were married in 1973 in Lexington, Oklahoma. I am a graduate of Oklahoma State University with a Batchelor of Science degree in Business Administration. I also have a Master of Arts in Management from Webster University; an Associate of Science in Computer Network Administration; and a Master of Divinity from Candler School of Theology of Emory University. I served as a navigator in US Air Force for 20 years and retired in 1994 before answering my call into full time ministry. I enjoy gardening and of late I have been running in preparation for the Walt Disney World Half Marathon in January of next year which I will be running this with my son. My favorite book of the Bible is The Gospel of John and my favorite verse is John 10:35, “Jesus wept.” To me this short, simple verse, speaks volumes of the humanity and love of Christ toward us.
